My team and I did a team-building/offsite cooking class with Rashmi, and everybody loved it! She’s very patient, thorough, and if you love Indian food (and, I imagine, even if you don’t, you’ll likely change your perspective a bit) you’ll eat this class up :-)………..
In short, it was a very warm and inviting few hours, not to mention tasty and educational. Many team members took home her collection of spices, which she wasn’t pushy about at all, and did seem like a good deal, on top.Strong recommend, and if you’re thinking about cooking classes, or even just informally cooking with your friends/team/family, in a cozy, home setting, with someone who’s definitely very knowledgeable and passionate, Rashmi’s cooking class is the one. I took Rashmi’s cooking class with six friends. The class was fun, educational and tasty. Rashmi really knows Indian foods and readily shared her knowledge in a way that was easy for us (rookies) to understand. I am ready to try any one of her recipes on my own. Beverly A (Berkeley)

I loved our class with Rashmi. She is very friendly, inviting and warm, not to mention a great chef and teacher. She was very flexible with the menu options and makes the complex cuisine seem easy and possible for anyone. She took time to explain all the ingredients in detail and had many of the recipes ready to go with most of the prep work completed. It was a fun and delicious evening! C G. (San Jose)

My husband and I took Rashmi’s cooking class recently, and enjoyed it very much…… Rashmi was a great hostess, who obviously knew extensively about all aspects of cooking, from how to prepare spices, what to buy, to how best to cook. It was very helpful to see and smell these spices for ourselves– like “putting a face to a name”.We had been wanting to learn Indian cooking (we love the cuisine)…….I have no doubt that we could now make at least 4 of the things she showed us. For sure, I’ll be making the yummy vege Pakoras (not nearly as much breading as in restaurants). That, with the cilantro chutney, was really delicious.
Rashmi is a natural speaker and entertainer, and she is very warm. The relaxed atmosphere made for a nice evening. I’d do a class again, and I’d recommend it. Carol L. (Mountain View, CA)
Education can be so much fun with the right teacher! My husband and I took a class from Rashmi and I must say that she really has her ducks in a row. She gave us very complete instructions for everything we cooked including very useful shortcuts. Indian cooking can be intimidating because the dishes seem complicated and time-consuming to cook but Rashmi really simplified things……… without sacrificing taste. She also did a great job of helping us to understand spices and how to prepare and use them which can be daunting.
She hosts her class in her own very well-stocked and roomy kitchen and we had our lovely meal after cooking and socialized happily far later than we should have. Rashmi is very gracious, the consummate host, and made us feel welcome and capable of going home and cooking these lovely dishes ourselves. Her website is also awsome as she really takes each recipe and runs through it carefully and clearly. -LP P (Palo Alto)
I took an evening Indian cooking class with some friends. We made an entire meal including dessert and tea. The meal was delicious and I was able to reproduce it for my family with excellent results. Rashmi is an excellent teacher and the classes are fun. -Sue M (Palo Alto)
I recently took a class in Northern Indian Cooking with Rashmi , along with some of my friends…………
Rashmi couldn’t have been more engaging and entertaining, while answering our myriad of questions as we helped her chop, stir, mix and cook. We asked tons of questions about the food and ingredients, and how she knew everything about spices, Indian food and more. Turns out she grew up on a farm in India, knew far more about the ingredients and the dishes than I would even think to ask, and toasts, grinds and otherwise creates her own Indian kitchen from spices she finds at a local Indian market. …….. She not only showed us what to do, she showed us the brands/packaging of ingredients she uses, showed us what different dried beans used in recipes look like, let us smell the different spices and ingredients………
My friends and I left the class thinking we couldn’t wait to sign up for another! Rashmi is flexible in her approach to menu planning and more than willing to do vegetarian or non vegetarian menus, or substitute different dishes. She has recipes of different dishes and her ingredient blends on her blog so you can see pictures and make them at home, and she also sells pre-packaged combinations of the spices she uses………. I would recommend Rashmi’s classes in a heartbeat to anyone who is interested in North Indian cooking, regardless of how much you already know — or don’t– about Indian food. I’ll be signing up for another class ! -Nancy H (Menlo Park)
I recently took a class with Rashmi and it was fabulous. The food, the music, the spices…we learned so much and had a great meal afterwards! Rashmi shared lots of secrets with us and it was a real delight!
I can only highly recommend this class! Enjoy!!! -Marie L, Palo Alto
Went to a,single cooking lesson, was informational and yummy.
Rashmi is a perfect hostess/teacher, teaching ways to create tastes of India and providing useful advice for the modern cook.
We started with recipes for chutney and pacora and then butter chicken and carrot dessert. The lesson took 3 hours (including tasting time 😉 ), and all of us enjoyed very much (we were a party of six).-Oren B (Sunnyvale)
I really enjoyed my evening cooking lesson. I eat a lot of Indian food, and knew some basic recipes, but was interested in learning more. We helped to prepare appetizers, chutneys, dal, tikka masala and dessert, then enjoyed eating the food. Rashmi also gave helpful advice about where to buy quality Indian ingredients, what ingredients to use when, shortcuts to take, etc. I highly recommend the class. -Emma D, Palo Alto
As a westerner, it is wonderful to find Rashmi’s cooking classes! She teaches Indian cooking in a way that is easy to understand and quick to prepare. She also teaches classes for Indians who have been cooking Indian food for 40 years, yet want to learn how to do it in half the usual time.
Her website offers lots of delicious recipes. I want to take more of her classes! -Celia B (Mountain View)
